Building a new office block

We have a big site at work but after the company expanded we were running very short on office space. Most of our accounts team was in a demountable office and they were really hot in summer and cold in winter. It was so much better for the whole team once we got the new office block built on site. This blog talks about the process of building a new office block, including the design and construction of a block for your team. I hope it will be useful for anyone looking to build a new office block on their site.

The Easy Way To Save Money And Be More Environmentally Friendly With Your Air Conditioning

Troy Medina

As the summer months grow near, many Australians are beginning to think about just how they are going to stay cool without breaking the bank. Air conditioning can be quite expensive to run throughout the hot days, and that is before you take into account all the fans you will no doubt be using too. There is a way to keep your cooling costs down, and over the course of your home's lifetime, it could save you thousands in electricity bills. The solution is, of course, residential insulation.

What Is Insulation?

Insulation is a way to stop heat from entering or leaving your home by installing material that slows down this process. There a few different types of material that are used, but in general they look very foamy because air is a great insulator. To take advantage of this, most pieces of insulation are made up of lots of trapped air bubbles, hence the foamy, fluffy appearance. Insulation has been around for hundreds of years in one form or another, but recent developments have made it more efficient than ever. Residential insulation is generally most effective when placed in the roof and the walls (where applicable), as these are the places heat escapes or enters from most commonly.

Residential Insulation

Commercial buildings have a different sort of process when installing insulation, which is why it is important to refine your search to residential insulation when looking. Residential insulation is available to almost every residential building, and it can mean you save thousands on electricity costs. When you have insulation your home stays cooler for longer, meaning you require less use of your air conditioning because the home gets colder and stays at a lower temperature for longer. Residential insulation can be created to focus on trapping either cold or hot air, but in most cases it is designed to do both, meaning it works as well for you in summer as it does in winter.

The Right Type Of Insulation

There are several different types of insulation that have varying levels of efficacy. Loose-fill insulation is insulation that is not attached directly to your walls or ceiling but rather just placed in there and allowed to sit. This insulation is an older form but still works quite well, and its main benefit is that it is cheaper than alternatives. Blanket insulation is another type that comes in what looks like long pieces of fabric that are actually just a very fibrous material. These are easier to install and work a little better but can fade in efficiency over time. Spray-on foam is a new type of insulation that works very well and lasts for a long time because it sticks directly to your wall, but it costs a bit more. Consider your budget and do a bit of research before you decide which version of residential insulation is right for you.
